William Sickles moved on to Valhalla this weekend to join our brothers who are assembled and waiting for all of us one day. William or Bill was a good Marine whom served in the Air Wing and was with the 24th MAU in Beirut, Lebanon and flew with HMM162. His friends and family throughout the years after his Marine Corps career had loved and respected him. It is a very sad day in our lives for those that knew Bill and we are deeply saddened.

God bless and love...  here is his obituary:

William J. "Bill" Sickles Jr., 63, of Willoughby, died unexpectedly May 19, 2025, peacefully at his home. He was born January 5, 1962 in East Chicago, Indiana.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran who proudly served his country, Bill was a helicopter crew chief who served in the Marine Corps from 1980-1987. He was a veteran of the Beirut peacekeeping effort during the Marine Barracks Bombing at Beirut in October 1983.

Following his service in the Marine Corps, Bill dedicated several years to the manufacturing and production industry where he served as a Production Supervisor with exceptional skills and integrity. Bill was more than a manager, he was a mentor and a steady presence on the shop floor. His ability to bring out the best in others made a lasting impact on all who worked with him. Whether staying late to help troubleshoot a problem or offering a kind word to boost morale, Bill exemplified what it meant to be a true leader.

His hobbies and passions included being the proud founder and Commanding Officer of the Greater Lake County Young Marines since 2004. He had a positive impact on many young lives by being an exemplary role model and mentor. Bill also enjoyed trips with his friends every summer and his annual October trip to North Carolina for the Beirut Anniversary Memorial.

When Bill was not at work, he could be found at any number of his favorite places; the beach, bowling, Gunny's Hall, Mentor Rocks, and Biagio's with mom (or grabbing pizza and donuts for the kids & grandkids).

He loved his kids with all his heart, but it was his grandchildren that truly made him light up and filled his heart with joy. Whether it was taking all of them camping, showing up for their extracurriculars, or watching SpongeBob SquarePants with them, Pop Sickles always loved supporting them…He was number one!

Survivors include his children, Christina (Alan) Skrout, William (Ashley) Sickles III, Samantha (Shane) Partlow, Emily Sickles, Amanda (Steven) Sickles, and Kaycee Sickles; mother, Bonnie Sickles; grandchildren, Landon, Adrianna, Sophie, Chase, Leo, Jackson, Olivia, Louie, Charli, Freddy, Aleah, Brayden, Wyatt and Francis; sister, Valerie Sickles; brother, David Sickles; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Sickles Sr.; and his sister, Melody Sickles.
The family will receive friends to honor Bill's life from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.  A funeral service in his memory will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Greater Lake County Young Marines, 8720 Twinbrook Rd., Mentor, OH 44060. Website: https://www.glcyoungmarines.org
