Essay

The heinous act of terrorism is one that is carried out in multiple countries and by multiple groups for various reasons. Each victim has always tried to understand and learn from the attack on their people and their country. Since the end of World War I, the United States has fallen victim to terrorists’ attacks, however, it wasn’t until the attack on the Marine Base in Beirut that the United States started comprehending the gravity of terrorism.

There are several things that the United States learned from the attack on the Marine Barracks in Beirut and it only increased our country's want and need for better protection and hatred towards terrorism. The nonexistent government in Lebanon gave terrorist groups the perfect opportunity to act freely. From this act of terrorism, the United States has learned multiple lessons. For one, we have realized that one person or group cannot be solely blamed for a terrorist act. The United States has traced the bombing in Beirut back to a group known as Hezbollah. However, there was Iranian and Syrian involvement. We have also learned that even though you remove the ones predominantly responsible for the acts, it does not mean that they are not replaceable and that it will not happen again.

The leadership and authority that are removed are easily replaceable. However, the United States is not the only country affected by terrorism. Neighboring countries have also realized these things about terrorism and know that there is always a way to become more prepared and stand stronger against terrorism. There are multiple ways to approach terrorism, and sometimes all methods have to be used to contain it.
